HHC or hexahydrocannabinol is a cannabinoid first synthesized by the American chemist Roger Adamsby adding hydrogen molecules to Delta-9 THC. Known as hydrogenation, this process converts THC into hexahydrocannabinol.
While Adam created HHC from conventional THC-derived cannabis, the molecule is now extracted from hemp where it is found in low concentrations in both seeds and flowers.
Effects of HHC
HHC is highly compatible with the CB1 and CB2 receptors of our endocannabinoid system, and when interacting with them produces similar effects to THC. Users report suffering from less paranoia and side effects than with THC, and a feeling of "high":
- Euphoria
- Relaxation
- Hunger
- Increased sensory pleasure
How is HHC produced?
HHC was discovered in the 1940s by chemist Roger Adams. He created HHC by adding
hydrogen to the THC molecule and altering its physical properties. The process, called
hydrogenation, first described in a 1947 patent document.
It is currently produced from CBD derived from industrial hemp in a laboratory by means of
chemical processes
What is the difference between HHC and THC?
HHC and THC share an almost identical molecular structure. The key differences are that
HHC has two additional hydrogenated carbons and THC has one ester atom and a
missing carbon.
Benefits of HHC
The lack of scientific evidence and research means that the benefits of HHC are mainly anecdotal. However, studies have shown that it may have anti-inflammatory properties similar to CBD and THC, as well as relieving chronic pain, migraines and prolonging sleep.
Does HHC test positive for drugs?
At present there is no evidence that HHC tests positive in a drug test. However, we recommend that you exercise caution about consuming these products before being tested as this has not been fully proven. Also, remember that as it is a psychoactive substance, you should not take it if you are going to drive or operate any kind of machinery, as you put yourself and others at risk.
Iguana Smoke no longer sells HHC products
At Iguana Smoke we always comply with the current regulations. That is why, since the new legislation came into force, we have permanently withdrawn all products containing HHC.
We do not sell HHC or any cannabinoids banned in Spain. Instead, we continue to offer legal, innovative and secure alternatives such as the STV (Sativanol), 10-OH, E8H or our classic products with CBD.
Why was HHC banned?
Health authorities and international bodies such as the WHO have raised concerns regarding the addictive potential and use without medical control of the HHC. Its audit responds to the need to prevent public health risks and maintain control over new psychoactive substances of semi-synthetic origin.
